Beyond Meat taps into spicy trend with new jalapeño product
Beyond Meat is tapping into the spice trend with the introduction of a new burger, Beyond Burger Jalapeño.
Available in 280 Sainsbury’s stores, 280 Tesco locations and from Ocado, the new burger comes as the plant-based brand‘s ‘hottest’ patty in its range.
Beyond Meat senior brand manager Ellie Stevens said: “There is a growing trend for spicy foods in the UK.
“Our recent data has shown that Brits love spice at their BBQs with nearly a third of consumers purchasing spicy products, so we wanted to bring a delicious spicy kick to our iconic Beyond Burger.”

Earlier this year, the meat alternative brand’s sales plunged as it continued to make heavy-losses in its first quarter, amid “softer demand” for plant-based options.
Despite this, last month its chief executive Ethan Brown he remained positive and said the company intended to ramp up Beyond Meat’s product range.
He said: “In Q1, we made solid progress against our 2024 priorities, including: hitting our first quarter revenue objective; reducing operating expenses and cash consumption year-over-year; bringing production in-house to reduce costs and improve quality; and commencing shipments of Beyond IV, the fourth generation of Beyond Burger and Beyond Beef, to our customers, to the praise of nutritionists and consumers alike.”
“Together with measures we are exploring to bolster our balance sheet, we continue to work to position 2024 as a pivotal year as we strive to achieve sustainable and profitable operations.”
