Young’s Seafood has expanded its range with the launch of a new Gastro Basa in Garlic & Herb Sauce at Sainsbury’s.

The move aims to offer an easy-to-cook meal solution that has restaurant-quality standards to consumers’ dinner tables.

This launch comes after research revealed strong consumer appetite for fish; however, many shoppers stated they lacked confidence to cook it regularly.

The brand’s new product aims to make seafood more accessible and convenient and help consumers incorporate fish into a wider range of meal occasions.

Young’s Seafood is expanding its portfolio beyond frozen seafood to appeal to more customers looking to consume fish more frequently throughout the week.

According to the business, the Gastro range is now worth £69.5m and presents a major selling opportunity for premium seafood for retailers.

Kevin Sinfield, seafood marketing director at Sofina Foods Europe, home of Young’s Seafood, said: “We know many shoppers want to eat more fish, but they’re often looking for easier ways to make it part of their weekly meal routine.

“Gastro Basa in Sauce combines quality seafood with rich, comforting flavours, offering a convenient meal option that doesn’t compromise on taste, and has been developed to remove some of the barriers associated with cooking seafood.

“With more people seeking high-quality meals at home, the range delivers an elevated dining experience without the time or effort required to cook from scratch.”

The Young’s Gastro Basa in Garlic & Herb Sauce launched in a 400g format in late October for an RRP of £5.50 at Sainsbury’s.
