Diageo workers suspend strike at Cameronbridge
Unite has announced plans to suspend its planned strikes moving forward at the Cameronbridge distillery.
This comes after one day of strike action which occurred on 12 October at the distillery.
The staff members are disputing job losses and have argued that they had not been given sufficient information in time.
Unite regional officer Dougie Orchardson said: “As a gesture of goodwill, and to facilitate talks between Unite, Diageo and Acas, we have agreed to suspend planned strike action this October.”
However, Diageo stated there were prior consultations before the decision was made, and the business remains open to dialogue.
A spokesperson for Diageo said in a previous statement: “We are disappointed with the decision to strike. We do not expect any disruption to the availability of our products resulting from this action.

“The proposal to remove up to ten roles at Cameronbridge Distillery is a difficult but necessary step as we maintain reduced production volumes.”
The upcoming strikes on 15, 19 and 22 October have been cancelled moving forward.
A Diageo spokesperson said: “We have accepted the joint unions’ request to attend conciliation at ACAS and welcome the decision to suspend strike action. We look forward to constructive dialogue with a view to reaching a resolution.”
According to the trade Union, actions short of a strike, including an overtime ban, will carry on as talks take place.
The company produces a wide portfolio of popular brands, including Johnnie Walker, Smirnoff, Don Julio, Baileys and Guinness.
