Asda launches a premium meal deal for £5
Asda has launched a new premium meal deal for £5, which will be available at supermarkets nationwide from 18 May, including Asda Express stores.
The new range has 17 mains which were designed to meet consumer demand for trending flavours and deli-quality recipes which are part of a meal deal with a main, a snack and a drink.
This marks one of the cheapest premium meal deals in the sector compared to supermarket rivals including Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Co-op.
The supermarket aims to undercut other major retailers’ premium meal deal offers, which cost up to £6 elsewhere.
This is lower than Tesco’s meal deal, which costs £5.50 with Clubcard and £6 without; Sainsbury’s at £5.50; and Co-op for £5.50 for members and £6 without a loyalty programme.

Some of the dishes in the meal include the Prosciutto Cotto and Milano Salami Focaccia sandwich, Steak & Onion Chutney Sandwich, New York Deli Sandwich and a Beef Birria Wrap.
Asda’s line also has two premium salads, such as the Exceptional Pesto & Mozzarella Pasta Salad and the Chicken Caesar Shake-A-Salad.
There are also two new hand-finished sushi rolls, Chicken Katsu, which is topped with katsu mayonnaise, chives and crispy onions, and a Spicy Prawn roll.
This move is part of the retailer’s push towards improving its turnaround efforts by creating better offers for customers.
This builds on the success of Asda’s meal deal launch in 2025, which starts from £3.74. Last year, in September, Asda had launched the cheapest meal deal in the sector, which does not require a loyalty card.
