Asda set to offer thousands of staff bonuses
Asda is reportedly granting thousands of staff members bonuses this year despite missing targets in its turnaround plan.
According to a report by The Telegraph, the supermarket retailer’s internal memo sent to employees revealed that 9,500 staff members, including head office workers and senior leaders, would be given a thank-you payment at the end of March.
Asda’s chair, Allan Leighton, stated all staff members who had started working for the business before October 2025 would be given a bonus to appreciate their “hard work throughout the year”.
These bonuses come despite some departments allegedly missing benchmarks for the extra payment, with Leighton stating that “not all metrics were fully achieved”.

An Asda spokesman said: “In recognition of all the hard work undertaken during the first year of our turnaround, we have today confirmed that all eligible salaried colleagues will receive a thank you bonus in their March pay. This has been well received.”
According to the report, colleagues who achieved all the metrics will receive their full bonuses, while those who did not meet the targets will receive nearly a quarter of the extra pay.
Leighton said: “While we didn’t meet all of our objectives, it’s important to pause and acknowledge what we achieved and the important steps we’re taking to rebuild our great business.”
