Tesco is expanding its premium frozen plant-based offering with the nationwide launch of Redefine Premium Burgers and Lamb Kofta Mix across 391 stores from 7 September.

This builds on the ongoing growth of the plant-based category and is part of the supermarket’s strategy to invest in innovation to appeal to a wide range of shoppers.

Earlier this year, Tesco reported that its plant-based category has shown momentum for the first time in several years, which was driven by shoppers shifting towards veg-led scratch cooking.

This comes after a successful period for Redefine Meat across the UK, previously securing its first national supermarket listing with seven SKUs in Asda in October 2025.

This Tesco listing aims to offer two products which can offer convenience during everyday meal occasions within the frozen plant-based category. The products will also be available on the retailers’ website for an RRP of £4 each.

Ben Gifford, plant-based buyer at Tesco, said: “We’re continuing to evolve our plant-based range in line with changing shopper expectations, with a growing focus on products that deliver on taste, quality and versatility.

“Redefine Meat’s chef-developed range stood out for its award-winning flavour and broad appeal across everyday meal occasions, making it a strong addition to our frozen offering.”

Redefine Meat has experienced significant retail momentum in the past months, with a 31 per cent year-on-year volume growth on Ocado.

The brand was designed to create plant-based meat that is meant for chefs and professional kitchens, which aims to provide restaurant-quality food in homes nationwide.

Simon Owen, VP EMEA at Redefine Meat, said: “Retailers increasingly recognise that sustainable category growth won’t come from simply expanding plant-based choice – it comes from offering products that genuinely satisfy mainstream shoppers.”
