Co-op has introduced two new ready-to-drink cans, Hugo Spritz and Aperitivo Spritz, as part of its summer range.

The Hugo Spritz and Aperitivo Spritz are priced at £2.00 each for a 250ml, 5% ABV, cans designed for on-the-go consumption during summer occasions.

The variants are aimed to cater to growing shopper interest in premium, low-effort options, with both cans finished with a mix of vodka.

This move comes as there is continued sales growth in the ready-to-drink category as shoppers are looking for convenient alcoholic beverages for picnics and social gatherings.

In the past 12 weeks the convenience retailers have experienced an increasing demand for ready-to-drink options among consumers, with sales showing double-digit growth ahead of the rest of the market.

Andrew Birdsey, senior buying manager at Co-op, said: “We’ve seen a real surge in demand for ready-to-drink options, particularly those that offer a premium feel without the need for preparation.

“Spritz serves have become a staple of summer socialising, and we’re excited to bring both Hugo and Aperitivo Spritz cans to our shelves, giving our members and customers an easy way to enjoy these popular drinks whatever the occasion.”

The new drinks have landed in Co-op stores nationwide at the beginning of June and are available for purchase.
