Mars Drinks & Treats has launched two Galaxy Hot Chocolate dual-sachet products as part of the brand’s expansion into a new category.

The new product combines the popular hot chocolate brand with confectionery pieces and marshmallows, which allows customers to have coffee shop-style drinks at home.

There are two variants of the products, the Galaxy Caramel Duo and Galaxy Hot Chocolate, which contain a pack of instant hot chocolate and toppings.

This move builds on the commercial success of the individual brands within the retail market.

The Galaxy brand has experienced a 17 per cent increase year-on-year, while the MD&T hot chocolate range now accounts for 23 per cent of the total hot chocolate market, according to figures from NIQ and Kantar.

Kerry Cavanaugh, general manager at Mars Drinks & Treats, said: “Launching into a clear category white space, the Galaxy Hot Chocolate duos recreate a café-style experience at home without compromising on quality, taste or convenience, delivering a premium single-serve treat at a third of the price of out-of-home alternatives.

“With consumers increasingly looking to upgrade their at-home drinks, the duos are designed to bring new shoppers into the category and offer something different on the shelf, tapping into high street trends in an accessible format.”

The two products are set to launch at Asda from May onwards to a recommended retail price of £1.49.
