Galbani targets premium cheese growth with burrata and basil mozzarella launches
Galbani is expanding its UK chilled cheese range with two new launches aimed at driving premiumisation.
The Lactalis-owned Italian cheese brand is rolling out Galbani Burrata Minis and Galbani Mozzarella Basil Infusion from April.
Galbani Burrata Minis will launch in Waitrose from 22 April, followed by Tesco from 26 May. The 6 x 30g format offers smaller portions of mozzarella filled with cream, positioned as an accessible way for shoppers to enjoy burrata without waste.
The product has an RSP of £3.25, with a promotional price of £2.70.
Galbani Mozzarella Basil Infusion, which is infused with natural basil extract, will also launch in Waitrose from 22 April. The product is designed to add a flavour twist to fresh mozzarella, targeting everyday meals as well as seasonal occasions such as barbecues and alfresco dining.
It has an RSP of £1.95, with a promotional price of £1.25.
The NPD will be supported by a £1.1m above-the-line campaign, including Channel 4 sponsorship running from April to early November, a TV burst from May to July, and 12 influencer-led recipe videos across social platforms.
The campaign will spotlight Galbani’s mozzarella, burrata and Dolcelatte ranges, while aiming to strengthen the brand’s association with authentic Italian cheese.
Lactalis UK & Ireland group marketing director Héloïse Le Norcy-Trott said the investment marked a significant push for Galbani in the UK.
“We’re seeing strong demand for products that combine quality, convenience and versatility, and these launches are designed to help retailers meet that need while unlocking more occasions for Italian cheese,” she said.
“Our ATL campaign will also play a key role in building brand awareness and inspiring shoppers to make Italian cheese part of more everyday meals.”
Galbani said the campaign is expected to reach 77.4 per cent of ABC1 adults aged 35 to 65, with an average frequency of 16.3, targeting food-engaged shoppers who enjoy cooking and entertaining at home.
