M&S will open its largest standalone M&S Food store in Godalming, Surrey, on 16 July, as the high street giant invests further in its sites and range.

The opening is part of a wider investment in new and renovated locations, in a bid to create larger stores which can offer M&S’ range of food and better cater to family shoppers.

The retailer’s Godalming store features multi-temperature areas for herbs, organic produce and fruit; wider fresh produce areas and a kitchen shop with homeware essentials such as pots and pans.

The new location will stock the full Remarksable Value range, which now has 175 products, including Fruit & Fibre Cereal Flakes, White Bread Finger Rolls and Pork Shoulder Steaks.

Additionally, M&S is expanding its own-label Remarksable Value range by adding 29 shopping-list staples across different categories, including dairy, grocery and meat.

The private label line was created to offer everyday essential food products which are benchmarked to competitor prices.

The range expansion is a push towards the supermarket’s goal of doubling the size of its food business and attracting more family shoppers.
