REAL lands Tesco listing in major boost for no and low drinks category
Slow-fermented sparkling tea brand REAL is set to launch into Tesco later this month in what it says is one of the largest supermarket listings secured by a brand of its kind.
From 21 April, REAL Blush will roll out to more than 880 Tesco stores nationwide, bringing the brand’s slow-fermented sparkling tea to a much broader supermarket audience.
Founded by David Begg in 2017, REAL has spent the past several years developing its position in the no and low space with a product designed to offer flavour, complexity and depth rather than focusing solely on alcohol-free credentials.
The brand said it uses a patent-pending slow-fermentation process that takes several weeks and is made using just four natural ingredients, with no additives. Production takes place at The Fermentery on the Waddesdon Estate in Buckinghamshire, which REAL describes as the UK’s only dedicated facility of its kind.
The Tesco launch follows REAL’s selection for the retailer’s Accelerator Programme, which is designed to support high-growth challenger brands with greater visibility and strategic backing.
REAL said the listing marks an important step not only for the business but also for the wider no and low category, as more shoppers seek out premium drinks built around taste and craft.
Founder David Begg said: “REAL is a true disruptor, made from tea, fermented like wine, bottled like champagne. From just four ingredients.
“Getting into over 880 Tesco stores means people who’ve never heard of us will encounter it for the first time. That’s what this is about.”
REAL Blush will be available in Tesco stores from 21 April with an RRP of £10.
