Lipton Teas enters cold brew market with Ice Tea launch

Lipton Teas & Infusions has announced the launch of an Ice Tea teabag range which is set to roll out in Ocado this month, in Co-op from April and Sainsbury’s from May.

This marks the brand’s first extension into the cold brew teabag market, aiming to address multiple consumer trends, including health, convenience, sustainability and flavour.

The new range is available in three ready-to-drink formats, Black Tea Peach, Green Tea Citrus Mint and Hibiscus Raspberry, offering a healthy options for consumers.

The individually wrapped plant-based teabags were designed for cold brewing in refillable water bottles, which aims to provide an on-the-go refreshment solution.

Jonny Briscoe, general manager, Lipton Teas and Infusions UK&I, said: “The Lipton Ice Tea range is more than just a new product; it’s a strategic move to revolutionise how consumers enjoy ice tea and how retailers can grow their tea category sales through a taste-first concept that resonates with younger demographics.

“The existing Lipton Hot range has already demonstrated strong incremental sales, indicating the brand’s proven power to drive category growth.”

One in six tea purchases among Gen Z shoppers is cold tea according to research by Worldpanel, which shows a major opportunity for retailers to capitalise on evolving consumer habits.

The range is also made to fit health-conscious shoppers’ needs, with zero sugar, zero calories and no sweeteners.

Lipton will support the launch with a marketing campaign, including mass street sampling to target younger customers and an in-store activation.

The new Lipton Ice Tea Infuse 10-pack range will be sold at major supermarkets for a recommended retail price of £3.75.
