Aldi invests £16m in Easter price reductions

Aldi has invested £16m in slashing prices across its Easter range and key product lines, including champagne, prosecco, and branded and private label confectionery.

The budget retailer reduced the cost of Prosecco Spumante DOC to £4.69 and Nicolas De Montbart Champagne Brut is priced at £9.99, which represents a 29 per cent and 11 per cent price cut, respectively.

The supermarket also lowered the price of vegetables, including carrots, swede and parsnips, to 4p and expects to sell close to 10m units in the Super 6 range during the Easter weekend alone.

Chief commercial officer at Aldi UK Julie Ashfield said: “With Easter falling earlier this year, we’re already seeing strong demand across our seasonal range.

“Easter is a time where families can come together to celebrate, and our recent price cuts mark our promise to shoppers that they will make significant savings each time they shop with us.

“From our bestselling Specially Selected Luxury Fruited Hot Cross Buns to roast dinner essentials, there are incredible savings to be had at Aldi over the Easter holiday.”

The retailer made a pledge to offer the lowest prices for Easter roast essentials, including British Pork Loin Joint for £3.75 per kg and British Prime Gammon Joint for £3.99 per kg.

Additionally, Aldi has lowered the price of branded Easter eggs from Cadbury to 99p, marking a 40 per cent reduction and expects to sell almost 17.5m Easter eggs over the upcoming weeks.
