Lidl GB has announced that Roberto Eretta, the current COO of Lidl Italy, will be joining the executive board effective from this summer.

He will succeed Maciej Tylkowski, who has worked at the discounter for over 25 years, serving as an executive board member at Lidl Poland for 17 years.

Tylkowski joined Lidl GB’s team in 2023, where he oversaw sales, logistics and supply chain.

Eretta has worked at Lidl for nearly 20 years and previously served as human resources director prior to stepping into the role of COO for Lidl Italy in 2020.

Eretta said: “Since beginning my career almost two decades ago as an area manager in Lidl Italy, I’ve been passionate about sales and providing our customers with outstanding service.

“Maciej has done incredible work at Lidl GB, implementing strategies and innovations to enhance the in-store experience and strengthen the competitive position.

“I’m excited to join the team in GB and share my love for offering the best possible experience while delivering quality and affordability at the same time.”

This appointment comes after the retailer opened five stores in a day last month on 19 February as part of its expansion plans, which created around 160 jobs.
