Which? names M&S best supermarket
Marks & Spencer has been named the best supermarket in the UK for the fifth consecutive year, according to a Which? survey.
The high-street retailer achieved a consumer score of 78%, based on analysis of value for money, customer service, stock availability, range and the quality of private label and fresh products.
During the research, which was conducted in November 2025, most customers selected M&S due to customer satisfaction with the store presentation, quality of stock and strong customer service. However, respondents were not satisfied with the higher overall costs at the supermarket.

Discounter Aldi and Tesco were tied for second place in the best in-store supermarkets category at 76% each.
Aldi was the only supermarket to receive the Which? Recommender Provider title, due to its lower prices.
Julie Ashfield, chief commercial officer at Aldi UK, said: “We’re proud to be Which?’s only Recommended Provider for in-store supermarket shopping.
“We know that value for money is the top priority for customers, and that’s why around 70% of UK households now shop with us.”
Discounter Lidl was in fourth place at 75%, which was driven by customers prioritising value for money, and Waitrose followed at 74%.
Retailers Sainsbury’s and Iceland received a score of 73% and 70%, respectively.
Asda and Morrisons were at the bottom of the supermarket rankings for in-store shopping, both at 68%.
Asda also received the lowest score for online shopping (71%), with the unsuccessful results due to “poor customer service” and long queuing times as well as low-quality groceries and substitutions.
