Online retailer Ocado is reportedly considering cutting 1,000 jobs, as part of a restructuring which aims to reduce costs.

According to a report by the Sunday Times, an official statement from the company may be made as early as this month.

Most of the redundancies may take place at Ocado’s UK headquarters office, across different categories including teams and back-office roles, said the publication.

The roles which could be at risk include legal, finance and human resources, which was cited by an undisclosed source familiar with the matter.

The business neither confirmed nor denied the reports.

An Ocado spokesperson told Grocery Gazette: “We regularly review our operations to ensure we’re set up for long-term success.

“If and when decisions are made that affect our people, we are committed to communicating with them directly and ensuring they are supported throughout.”
