Lidl sees strong performance in full-year results

Lidl posted successful results for the year ending on 28 February 2025, with revenue increasing by 7.9% to £11.7bn.

The retailer reported a pre-tax profit of £156.8m, up from £43.6m in the year prior, and operating profit increased to £314.1m from £220.8m.

Lidl maintained its title as the fastest-growing brick-and-mortar supermarket in the UK, holding the position for over two years.

Ryan McDonnell, Lidl GB CEO, said: “Our results reflect the momentum we’ve built and the trust shoppers place in us. More households are choosing to shop with us more often because we continue to deliver on our promise of outstanding quality at the lowest possible prices.

“Over the last year we have continued to operate with our discounter efficiency at the heart of everything we do, all the while investing strategically in areas that will benefit our people, suppliers and communities.”

The discount retailer had 38m customers shop at Lidl during the period and hired 3000 new staff to join its workforce.

Over the past year, the discounter has worked on developing its infrastructure, completing a £285m project across two distribution centres in its Belvedere site in London in August.

Additionally, Lidl has made moves to back British farmers, recently announcing a £30bn commitment to support local farming businesses over the next five years.
