Asda debuts first-ever Meal Deal without loyalty card, marking cheapest in sector
Asda has today (17 September) debuted its first Meal Deal range priced at £3.74, without the need for a loyalty card.
The move sees the grocery giant enter the UK’s supermarket meal deal market for the first time, which it claims is the cheapest fixed-price option available.
Consisting of a Main, a Snack and a Drink, the new non-membership meal deal is available in all Asda stores, online, and at its 478 Asda Express convenience sites.
The range includes 132 mains, 336 snacks and 222 drinks, with the supermarket chain adding that customers can now save up to a 50% in comparison to buying the items individually outside of the deal.
The new format replaces the grocery retailer’s previous 3-for-2 deal across its Food to Go counters, giving shoppers a main, snack and drink for a set price.

That range spans both own-label options, such as the Asda Chicken & Bacon Sandwich with apple slices and toffee dip, and branded favourites including Doritos and Coca-Cola.
| Retailer | Membership Price | Non-Membership Price |
| Tesco Express | £3.85 | £4.25 |
| Tesco | £3.85 | £4.25 |
| Sainsbury’s Local | N/A | £3.95 |
| Sainsbury’s | N/A | £3.95 |
| Morrisons | £3.60 | £4.00 |
“At Asda, we believe great value should be available to everyone,” said Asda Food to Go buyer Amy Wotherspoon.
“What’s why we’re launching the new £3.74 Meal Deal that is completely open to all customers – with no app or membership required, and a big range of products to choose from so there’s something for everyone.”
The launch positions Asda one pence cheaper than Tesco’s meal deal, which last month increased by 25p to £3.85 with a Clubcard and from £4 to £4.25.
Looking ahead, Asda said it predicted sales of more than 700,000 meal deals in the first week, with its current bestseller, the Cheese & Onion Sandwich (£1.42), already sells more than 50,000 units a week.

TBH this isn’t the price war the market seemed so rattled by a few months ago.
