Dozens of Morrisons stores fail hygiene inspection
Over 30 Morrisons stores have failed food hygiene inspections, with some locations receiving a zero rating.
According to The Telegraph, Morrisons stores in Bristol and Chingford, East London, received a zero rating within the past year, while 10 of the supermarkets received a score of one on the latest inspections.
Additionally, twenty Morrisons stores across the UK, located in areas including Sheffield, Milton Keynes and Epsom Downs, were given a rating of two and instructed to improve conditions.

A Morrisons spokesperson said: “The food safety within our supermarkets, convenience and franchise-operated stores is really important to us. We have taken immediate action to address and resolve all issues raised, some of which are very specific and isolated issues.
“We are awaiting re-rating inspections in a number of stores.”
The retailer reported its first pre-tax profit since 2021 in its most recent financial results after undergoing a turnaround plan. However, its overall yearly revenue decreased from £18.3bn to £17bn.
Morrisons’ chief executive Rami Baitiéh said in June: “Value remains at the forefront of customers’ minds… We’ve worked hard on helping customers through these challenges with a rigorous focus on price, promotions and meaningful rewards for loyalty.”

It’s only a matter of time before Morrisons cease trading.
They have run Morrisons into the ground lack of staff to do any cleaning code and rotation well behind in stores.Too many staff doing optics no one filling shop floor left to twilight teams starting at 19.00.Finishing at midnight.you can’t tell me 5000 cases to be put up can be achieves with a few staff.
Biggest issue was taking night shifts away replacing with twilight shifts saving a few pounds.thats why they are falling behind the other supermarkets lack of stock on shelves.
After spending almost 30 years as a SGM with Morrisons it hurts to read news like this and more importantly to see the condition of stores as I do and to listen to the comments my wife gives me week in week out after returning from her weekly shop at our local store.
The sad thing is, I could see this coming a long time ago, why couldn’t the senior management!!
It’s mostly the morissons daily stores as they have ripped so many staff hours out these stores, there are hardly any staff to serve, fill shelves never mind clean, staff and managers are lone working all the time, they dont get time ,it is an absolute joke of a company now and they certainly don’t care about our health and safety

My morrisons, brentford, moved into brand new premises a year ago. Already it looks scruffy like the old one but the most serious issue, consistent in the old store, happening consistently in the new, is bad fridge care. Always over-iced, all multi oack ice lollies gave defrosted, and refrozen, soggy cardboard – a disgrace no effort to correct and no interest in complaints
I’ve seen quite a few failures, with a manager viewing too.
Hardly a surprise. I was in my local Morrison’s – a full size store around 7-8pm. It was almost staff deserted – all Market Street ‘stalls’ closed, cafe closed, no staff around apart from 1 fixed, 1 person on self checkouts, an couple of fillers and one on the cigarettes/lottery/confectionary stand.
You can see where the recovery in trading is coming for – slashing in staff costs to below minimum.
