Aldi UK communications director Richard Thornton said: “This Random Acts of Kindness Day, we want to give back to our customers by covering the cost of their weekly essentials.

“We’re dedicated to offering exceptional quality and value without compromise year-round, and we hope this giveaway will be a great surprise for our shoppers.”

It comes as Aldi is set to create 1,600 new store roles this year as it pushes ahead with its 2025 expansion plans, despite job cuts at rival supermarkets over the past few weeks.

The discount grocer, which currently has more than 1,050 stores, has plans to open more this year as part its £650m investment in Britain.

To enter the latest giveaway, shoppers need to send a picture of their receipt to KindnessCompetition@Aldi.co.uk. The competition will run from 8am to 11:59pm on Monday 17 February.
