Waitrose partners with PerfectTed to launch matcha drinks into cafés
Waitrose has partnered with matcha brand PerfectTed to introduce new matcha drinks across all of its 127 cafés.
From this week, a strawberry matcha latte and a vanilla matcha latte, both organic and ceremonial grade, will be rolling out to the sites.
The move follows a surge in demand for demand across the grocer’s online arm, with searches across its website for ‘matcha’ and ‘matcha powder’ up 133% and 676% respectively over the last three months.

Waitrose head of food service Rachel Dowsett said: “We’re so excited to be working with PerfectTed to offer matcha drinks in our cafés for the first time.
“Matcha is becoming more and more popular, and we want to make sure our customers can enjoy high-quality, trend-led, delicious drinks. This partnership is a great way for customers to try our amazing matcha selection before buying it in-store.”
It comes as the John Lewis Partnership has expanded its collaboration with Caffè Nero by opening coffee shops in select stores across the UK.
Last month, five Waitrose stores welcomed the outlets, offering a blend of Nero Roasting Company’s coffee and the upmarket retailer’s food menu.
