Asda and Aldi slash prices of Christmas veg further to 8p
Competition between the grocers this Christmas is in full swing as Asda and Aldi aim to offer cheapest prices on key festive veg lines, lowering prices to just 8p.
Last week, Asda slashed the prices of Christmas veg to 15p, however, from 19 to 24 December, this will be dropping further to 8p each across its 1kg carrots, 500g sprouts, 360g broccoli, 500g parsnips and 2kg potatoes in-store and online while stocks last.
At the start of the month, Aldi also cut the prices of festive veg staples to 15p as part of its Christmas Super Six promotion.

However, the German discounter has dropped prices further as it looks to retain its promise to be the cheapest supermarket to buy a Christmas dinner.
From 19 December, 1kg of carrots, 500g parsnips, 500g Brussels sprouts, 2kg white potatoes, red and white cabbages, and broccoli will be available for 8p.
Other UK supermarkets including Sainsbury’s and Tesco are currently offering Christmas dinner vegetables for 15p each, while Morrisons is offering festive veg for 10p each.
It comes as Gen Z and Millennials are shunning traditional Christmas food in favour of plant-based meals and global foods, a new study from Aldi has found.
The discount grocer’s findings show that 54% of Millennials and Gen Z believe that traditional Christmas dishes need a modern twist to stay relevant.

This is crazy! Are you paying the farmers anything for producing vegrtsbles so cheaply?
I do wonder who really funds for these low prices, is it the retailer or are farmers being screwed even more than normal?
