Food and drink manufacturer Mars has promoted a new regional general manager for Europe, as it makes further strategic leadership changes.

Hans Bakker will lead Mars Food & Nutrition Europe, which has a brand portfolio that includes Ben’s Original, Dolmio and Suzi Wan, and report to global president Shaid Shah.

Bakker’s appointment comes after 20 years working at the food manufacturer, having most recently held the role of vice president of global transformation since 2021, where he led transformational programmes across 30 countries.

Prior to this position, he worked across sales and marketing roles before becoming Mars Food & Nutrition’s general manager for Germany.

Bakker said: “Europe is a vibrant and diverse region, brimming with rich cultures and culinary traditions. I cannot wait to work with our passionate Associates across the region to drive growth with our customers, bring our purpose to life and provide healthy, nutritious meals for our consumers.”

Bakker will take over from current regional general manager for Europe Dave Dusangh, who is moving to a new role as regional president for North America.

Speaking about the new appointments, Shah said: “I am confident that Dave and Hans will continue to strengthen our business and brands, enhancing the value we deliver to our customers and consumers in their respective regions.

“Their appointments highlight our dedication to investing in talent as a fundamental enabler of strong business performance and our inspiring purpose. I look forward to working with them in their new capacities.”

The news come as earlier this year, Mars reached a deal to acquire Pringles maker Kellanova for more than $29bn (£22bn).
