Morrisons launches leadership school to boost staff careers
Morrisons has launched the ‘Sir Ken Morrison Leadership School’ to provide employees with skills to further career progression.
Spearheaded by chief executive Rami Baitiéh, the initiative looks to boost the qualities that the supermarket giant is looking for in its staff, with the first cohort’s mentor to be former Tesco CEO and Morrisons chair Sir Terry Leahy, Retail Week reported.
Participants will be equipped with technical and leadership training, and will be required to take an exam and complete a business-relevant project.

The scheme, which will be run three times a year, hopes to promote graduated participants to their next step within six months.
It comes amid Baitiéh’s turnaround plan for the grocer, after he vowed to build on Morrisons customer satisfaction scores and improve the shopper experience.
In February shoppers were invited to join its management meetings as the supermarket attempted to “start a new chapter”.
Other new customer-facing initiatives include extended quiet hours, ‘stop and rest’ areas, police terminals, child-friendly checkouts, click-and-collect travel money kiosks, digital screens and an AI app.
