Ottolenghi enters supermarkets for first time with Waitrose launch

Ottolenghi is rolling out a range of sauces and spices exclusively in Waitrose to bring its products “to the masses”.

It marks the company’s first venture into a supermarket, having until now, only operated via its seven delis and restaurants in London.

The range, which includes a miso pesto, kalamata olive and harissa sauce, shawarma marinade and a variety of aromatic spice mixes, has been created by the brand’s founder and chef Yotam Ottolenghi and his test kitchen team.

The products will be available in the upmarket grocer’s stores and online from 29 April, with an introductory 20% off offer on the range until 18 June.

Yotam Ottolenghi said: “I have always been super eager to get our flavours onto people’s dinner plates nationwide, not just in London, without having to cook it from scratch every single time.

“I am so happy with our new range of sauces, marinades and spices, which does exactly that: Ottolenghi flavours, cooked at home, with no effort at all.”

Waitrose commercial director Charlotte Di Cello added: “We know how much our customers love the food and flavours of Ottolenghi. With extraordinary quality and taste being central to both our brands, we are excited to be able to bring Ottolenghi to homes nationwide with this exclusive range.

“While our customers don’t always have the time to create a meal from scratch, these products are designed to enable anyone to bring all that deliciousness to their meals with the simple addition of a sauce, marinade or spice mix.”
