Tesco and Vauxhall encourage customers to switch to electric vehicles

Tesco is partnering with Vauxhall to encourage more customers to “make sustainable choices” and switch to electric vehicles.

The collaboration will see Vauxhall providing its new electric vehicle (EV) customers with one year’s free charging credit at the Tesco stores across the country.

Tesco currently claims to offer the country’s largest supermarket charging network with 2,700 charging bays across 619 stores.

The supermarket giant will be updating all charge bays with a new Vauxhall and Tesco co-branded livery to mark the partnership.

While the points are accessible for all EV drivers, new Vauxhall customers purchasing an electric car or van directly from the car retailer will be offered the free charging credit.

Tesco head of retail partnerships Clare Gregorio said: “We’re committed to reducing carbon emissions across our business, including becoming carbon neutral across our own operations by 2035.

“We want to encourage our customers to make sustainable choices too, such as moving to electric vehicles.

“That’s why we’re delighted to partner with Vauxhall in providing the UK’s largest supermarket EV charging network, making it easy and convenient for our customers to top up their electric cars while they shop with us.”
