Demand for no and low alcohol beer, wine and spirits soared during ‘Dry January’ at Tesco.
The supermarket giant saw sales for the alcohol alternatives rise by almost 10% since the start of the month, compared with the same period last year.
No and low spirits were up nearly 40%, while no and low wine demand increased 20% and no and low beer and cider was up 15%.
The most popular spirit at Tesco during Dry January was Tanqueray 0%, with demand up nearly 200%.

Across no and low wine, popular purchases included Kylie Minogue’s 0% Sparkling Rosé which is now the UK’s top-selling alcohol-free wine, with sales soaring by nearly 75% during the month.
The grocer has seen a jump in sales for no or low alcohol alternatives outside of Dry January.
Over the four week Christmas period, the grocer saw demand up nearly 15% which follows on from a year where Tesco saw all-time record salws for no and low drinks.
Tesco beer, wines and spirits category planning manager Ben Cole said: “More and more customers want to be able to enjoy the social aspect of having a drink without the alcohol, but still want a quality wine, beer or spirit drinking experience.
“With the increasing quality of ‘No and Low’ alcohol products, we are seeing a significant growth in this area with this January recording our highest ever customer demand and following hard on the heels of a record-breaking Christmas.”
