Poundland hits the roads with Christmas truck campaign

Poundland has taken to the roads with three trucks delivering festive goodies to its stores, as part of its Christmas campaign.

In a stunt that pays homage to the iconic Coca-Cola truck campaign, the discount retailer has embarked on the Christmas journey from the North Pole, locally known as its three main distribution centres, Harlow, Wigan and Springvale.

Covering 10,000 miles over the next 24 hours, the trucks see will Santa and his helper elves make deliveries to over 800 stores between 1 December and Christmas Eve.

Locations scheduled to receive their deliveries via the Santa trucks include Wrexham, Kidderminster and Cambridge.

Poundland transport operations manager Anthony Kay said: “We can’t wait to hit the road today and see the reaction to the trucks as they deliver to our stores right across the UK and Ireland.

“Not only do the graphics make a real impression when you see them, they’re also decked out with Christmas lights to make sure they’re unmissable when it’s dark.

“We know too much how our stores are looking forward to seeing the trucks arrive at their stores in the next three weeks or so.”

The campaign is also supported by a consumer competition that encourages passersby who spot the trucks to take to social media with the hashtag #PoundlandExpress for a chance to win a £250 voucher.

Earlier this year, Poundland expanded its grocery offer with the addition of fruit, frozen food and alcohol.
