Watch: Aldi brings back Kevin the Carrot for Willy Wonka-themed Christmas ad

Aldi’s Kevin the Carrot returns for its Christmas 2023 advert that takes inspiration from Willy Wonka.

The ad, created by advertising agency McCann, opens with five lucky winners, including Kevin, Greedy Gluttonous Grape, Sulky Sour Rhubarb and Mischievous Kiwi, waiting to enter William Conker’s gravy-filled wonderland.

One by one, the visitors fall at various hurdles until Kevin is the last fruit and veg standing.

Upon passing the test, Kevin starts handing out gifts to the Plumty Dumptys before he is presented with the ‘cheese’ to the factory.

He then asks the wholesome question: “Can I share my good fortune with everyone?”

The advert closes with a charming message from the narrator: “Seasonal goodwill was truly in the air as Christmas is a time that’s sweeter when you share”

This will the be the eighth year that Kevin the Carrot has starred in Aldi’s festive campaign.

Aldi UK marketing director Jenna Townsend said: “Christmas is made magical by coming together and sharing the joy of celebration even in tough times- just like Kevin wants to with his Christmas wish.

“It wouldn’t be the festive season without Kevin the Carrot on our TV screens; we know our shoppers will love seeing him getting into the Christmas spirit as we welcome him back for his eighth year with us.”

Aldi is the latest supermarket to release its Christmas 2023 advert. Asda has signed up Michael Bublé for its ad, whilst M&S has enlisted Hollywood actors, and Wrexham football club owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.
