Aldi launches price lock to support shoppers this Christmas

Aldi is launching a Christmas price lock as it found that more than one in three Brits are worried about costs over the coming months and are planning to scale back celebrations this year.

Prices of key food staples including a range of pigs in blankets and Christmas puddings will remain the same price as they were in 2022, and three of the discounters fresh turkey lines will be cheaper than last year at £3.75 per kg.

Other items include white potatoes at 15p for 2kg, as well as carrots, parsnips, Brussels sprouts, red cabbage, white cabbage and suede from 19p.

The price lock will be available in stores nationwide and could see a family of four purchasing a Christmas meal for less than £15.

This comes as Aldi found that 40% of Brits are planning to spend less on festive food compared to last year and one in five are planning to invite fewer people to the Christmas meal.

Aldi UK communications director, Richard Thornton, said: “At Aldi we believe that everyone should get to enjoy an amazing Christmas, which is why we’re introducing the Aldi Christmas price lock.

“Our research shows cost is a major factor when it comes to choosing food options and by locking the prices of key staples at the level they were in 2022, it will help our customers up and down the country enjoy the Christmas dinner they deserve with the ones they love.”

This comes as Aldi is looking to recruit 3,000 new store workers ahead of the Christmas period to help replenish stock and provide assistance to customers.

The grocer will be hiring for both temporary and permanent positions including store assistants, managerial roles and cleaners.
