Sainsbury’s has launched a new premium ‘Kitchen Deli’ fresh food-to-go range in 100 stores.

The offering, which features 13 products such as wraps, sandwiches, salads and ready meals, will expand to more sites by the end of 2023.

Sandwiches are priced at £4.75, while salads such as tuna niçoise are £5.50, and ready meals, including a Japanese style teriyaki chicken and sticky rice, will cost £6.50.

The supermarket giant has said the majority of the packaging is paperboard-based and recyclable, in a bid to reduce plastic.

Sainsbury’s director of fresh food Richard Crampton said: “We’re passionate about making inspiring, tasty food the focal point of how we show up for our customers, and Kitchen Deli will give them a new and convenient way to sample the best of what Sainsbury’s has to offer.

“We’ll listen carefully to everyone’s feedback in the coming weeks and months as we work to build on and improve the new range.”

This comes as Greggs is set to launch standalone cafés in Sainsbury’s stores as it looks to expand its retail partnerships.
