Aldi slashes price of fruit and veg ranges to pass on savings to customers

Aldi has revealed that it is cutting the price of its fruit and vegetable ranges, as it looks to pass savings on to its customers during the cost-of-living crisis.

Ten products are included in the price drop, from customer favourites such as avocados, red peppers and easy peelers to staples like baking potatoes and sweetcorn – where shoppers will see prices cut by up to 36%.

The move is the latest of hundreds of prices that the German discounter has slashed recently, including household staples such as milk and pasta.

In recent weeks, it has also lowered the price of almost 100 products and expanded its Super 6 fruit and veg range to Super 7, which offers fruit and veg at better value prices.

Managing director of buying at Aldi UK, Julie Ashfield said: “We know that shoppers are having to make hard choices at the moment, which is why we’re passing savings on to our customers anywhere we can.

“We know it can be difficult to access food that is both nutritious and affordable, so we recognise that lowering the costs of healthy food and veg staples like these is so important right now.”

She added: “We’re continuing to see high numbers of people switching to Aldi from every other supermarket as they look to save money and our promise remains that we will always offer straightforward, honest prices that we’ll keep low for our customers, every day.”

Latest research from consumer group Which? found Aldi to be officially the cheapest UK supermarket in June for the 13th consecutive month.

On a basket of goods, Aldi was the cheapest at £75.25, which was £7.42 cheaper than Tesco and £16.55 lower than Waitrose.
