Tesco launches digital transformation programme across cafés

Tesco is launching a programme to digitally transform its UK cafés in partnership with technology solutions company Givex.

Givex’s digital kiosks will be introduced into the cafés for ordering, kitchen automation system, inventory control mechanisms and menu management products.

It is hoped this will help to increase productivity and improve customer experience.

The changes follow a successful pilot phase, which saw Givex delivering complex integration into the grocery giant’s Clubcard sheme and payment integration, as well as enabling the supermarkets colleagues to utilise the loyalty scheme for exclusive employee discounts.

Givex UK managing director Richard Barnans said: “We are delighted to be chosen as Tesco cafés technology partner.

“Our robust suite of digital ordering, kitchen automation, inventory control, and menu management tools will empower Tesco cafés to optimise operations and maintain a market leading customer experience.”

Earlier this month, Tesco brought back its Kids Eat Free scheme to its 310 cafés, which UK CEO Jason Tarry said looked “to give families a helping hand” amid the cost-of-living crisis.

The scheme is currently available in Scotland and Northern Ireland, and is offering one free kids hot meal deal, breakfast or pick ‘n’ mix deal with each item bought by an adult when showing their Clubcard at the till.

This will be rolled out to Tesco cafés in England and Wales from 24 July until 1 September.
