Iceland gives shoppers chance to win contents of its ‘heaviest freezer’ if they lift the lid

Iceland has partnered with Myprotein in a first of its kind competition, in which it is giving shoppers the chance to win a year’s supply of frozen meals if they are able to lift the lid of its ‘heaviest freezer’.

Named ‘Lift It to Win It’, the frozen food retailer has promised that the first person to successfully lift the lid of the freezer will win its entire contents – a year’s supply of Myprotein meals.

Love Island star, Alex Bowen launched the competition with Iceland, which will take place at Iceland’s Food Warehouse in London’s Tottenham from 19 May – 21 May.

The years’ worth of Myprotein meals up for grabs include the popular Myprotein Beef Lasagne (£4.00, 400g, 36g protein), Myprotein Breakfast Wrap (£4.00, 320g, 41g protein), Myprotein Salt & Pepper Chicken – (£6.00, 4pk) (30.0g protein, 154kcal) and more.

The news comes as Iceland is running a competition where it will hide five black cards in stores across the UK, where winners will receive a ‘year’s worth’ of frozen chicken.

“Lifting the lid on the world’s heaviest freezer is something that I seriously had to train for, but with a years’ worth of Myprotein meals on the line, it was worth the challenge,” Alex Bowen said.

“As an Iceland shopper myself, I love to see high protein options that save time and don’t break the bank.

“Anyone who’s serious about weightlifting should come down to Iceland’s Food Warehouse in Tottenham and give it a go – the first 30 to give it a go will get rewarded so there’s nothing to lose, only gains,” he said.

An Iceland spokesperson said: “We wanted to something really unique to celebrate our Myprotein partnership and what better way than testing the nation’s muscles?

“Lifting the freezer lid is no easy feat and all of us in store have so far tried and failed so we’re excited to see someone take home the prize.”
