Just Eat appoints ex-John Lewis director as new UK and Ireland MD

Just Eat has appointed ex-John Lewis customer director Claire Pointon as its new managing director for the UK and Ireland.

Pointon, who has more than 20 years of commercial experience in customer strategy, brand innovation and marketing, will be taking over the role from Andrew Kenny who joined the online grocery delivery firm’s board as chief commercial officer last year.

Pointon most recently led the digital and in-store customer function for John Lewis.

She has also held executive level and senior positions at companies including Kerry Foods, Dixons Carphone, Carphone Warehouse and Deutsche Telekom.

“I’m delighted to be joining Just Eat at such an exciting time for the business,” Pointon said.

“Online food delivery is increasingly becoming a part of our daily lives, with more customers than ever looking for convenience and choice online.

“The passion from the team for leading the industry, our customers and partners is clear to see and I’m looking forward to leading the UK and Ireland’s next phase of the journey.”

This comes as Just Eat ramps up its grocery partnership. It revealed last week that it will roll-out its tie-up with The Co-op to nearly 1,000 of the convenience retailer’s stores by the end of May.
