Tesco has expanded its partnership with Greggs, adding two more of the bakery chain’s shops to its supermarket stores.
Following the openings of Greggs cafes at Tesco sites in Failsworth, Wath upon Dearne in Rotherham and Ellesmere last year, Tesco Telford, Wrekin also saw the addition of a shop just last month.
However, Greggs will now be available at Tesco Extra stores in Leicester Hamilton and Romford, with each new cafe creating 10 jobs.

Currently, the high street retailer’s sausage rolls, steak bakes and new Vegan Mexican Chicken-free Bakes, among other goods, can be found in the Tesco stores with the option of click and collect orders also available to shoppers via the Greggs app.
“Our ambition is to have more than 3,000 shops across the UK, and we are always looking to expand into new locations to achieve this, including setting up shops inside supermarkets,” a Greggs spokesperson said.
“While we are unable to confirm anything at the moment, we will be sure to share any information in due course.”
A Tesco spokesperson told Grocery Gazette: “We know our customers love Greggs and we’re looking forward to more customers being able to pick up a vegan sausage roll or a steak bake whilst doing their weekly Tesco shop.”
This comes as Greggs also expanded its partnership with Primark in March, launching the third ‘Tasty by Greggs’ café on the second floor of the high street retailer’s Northumberland Street store in Newcastle.
