Asda focuses on frozen food deals as customers switch to save money

Asda is focusing on promoting its frozen food deals as customers make the switch from fresh to frozen food to keep household costs low during the cost-of-living crisis.

Shoppers at the big 4 grocer can now earn up to £5 in their Asda Rewards cash pot when buying the retailer’s mix and match frozen roast dinner.

According to recent research from retail analysts Kantar, many frozen products are doing ‘notably better’ than their fresh counterparts as record levels of food price inflation, high energy prices and shortages of fruit and vegetables continue to put pressure on household budgets.

Available until 26 April, the frozen roast dinner is priced from £12.10 and includes one chicken joint, two sides and one ice cream dessert option, feeding a family of four for just over £3 per head.

The selection of products in the frozen dinner includes family-favourite brands like Aunt Bessie’s and Carte D’or, along with Asda’s own joints of chicken.

Following the success of the ‘First Scan Bonus’ initiative that the retailer introduced in February, Asda is reintroducing the offer this month for first time users of Asda Rewards.

Asda Rewards app customers will earn £5 in their Rewards cash pot when shopping the offer, which means the family meal will set shoppers back just £8 or less – when taking into account the bonus £5 earned that can be spent at a later date.

The ‘First Scan Bonus’ will run from Wednesday 12 April until Wednesday 3 May, available both in-store and online with no minimum spend required.

Customers who have previously downloaded the app but are yet to scan for the first time will also benefit from an additional £5 bonus, meaning they can earn as much as £10 in total.
