Jempson’s joins ‘Together with Morrisons’ retail partnership

Independent grocery retailer Jempson’s is joining Morrisons retail partnership ‘Together with Morrisons’, moving all of its stores.

According to reporting by The Grocer, Jempson’s which currently has six stores and is supplied by Nisa, will be converting its first store in Peasmarsh, East Sussex to the dual-branding later this spring.

Its superstore in Rye and convenience stores in Battle, Bexhill, Northiam and Wadhurt will follow later.

The ‘Together with Morrisons’ retail concept designed for independent convenience retailers of 3,000 square feet and over, gives grocer’s freedom over how the stores look and the range they stock.

However, retailers using the fascia will be expected to protect the supermarket giants brand in aspects such as food hygiene, health and safety, legal training and maximum price points on its own-brand products.

In May 2022, independent retailer Warner’s became the first convenience store partner to join the ‘Together with Morrisons’ concept.

“The Together with Morrisons proposition is designed for independent store owners with established local brands and larger stores,” Morrisons sales director for franchise and wholesale, Paul Dobson told The Grocer.

“Jempson’s has all of those qualities and so we’re delighted to be opening six stores in partnership with them. The new stores will offer customers a mix of Morrisons own-brand products and branded favourites alongside local produce from local suppliers.”

Jempson’s owner, Stephen Jempson added: “The new store will enable Jempson’s to continue championing local produce and local artisan suppliers whilst also ensuring our customers have access to a wider breadth of products more akin to the larger supermarkets which we operate.

“I would like to place on record our thanks to all at Nisa for their help and support during our time working together.”
