Krispy Kreme gives away free doughnuts to tackle food waste

Krispy Kreme is offering shoppers last-minute boxes of doughnuts for free, in a bid to reduce food waste.

For the first time ever, in the final minute before shops close for the day, customers can pick up a box of four doughnuts at one of the bakery company’s participating stores.

Those hoping to receive the deal, which is available until 12 March, will need to let a member of staff know that they’re looking  for the “Last Minute Box Offer” when arriving at a shop.

“At Krispy Kreme, we take pride in handcrafting our doughnuts fresh every single day for our customers,” Krispy Kreme chief marketing officer UK and Ireland, Emma Colquhoun said.

“We are committed to having a positive role in tackling food waste, and are already working in partnership with ‘Too Good To Go’, the world’s largest surplus food platform, to reduce food waste.

“In addition from 6 to 12 March, customers can pick up a box of free doughnuts at the end of each day. We’re thrilled that we’re able to offer another way to reduce waste, while also helping customers save money and spread joy.”
