Iceland has pledged £50,000 to The Sun‘s Earthquake Appeal to support the essential relief efforts of the British Red Cross after the an earthquake hit areas in Turkey and Syria.
The frozen food retailer joins Tesco and M&S, which have pledged a combined £150,000, after the earthquake, which took place over the weekend resulting in the death toll passing 21,000.

In a tweet, Iceland executive chairman Richard Walker said: “Our thoughts are with those who have been affected in Turkey & Syria. To show support, Iceland Charity has made a donation to The Sun Earthquake Appeal to provide vital aid and disaster relief to those impacted.”

Iceland also follows the Co-op, which revealed it is set to make a £100,000 donation in support of those affected by the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria.
The contribution will be made to the convenience retailers partners, the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) to help kickstart its support of the appeal.
