Drinkaware has launched a new strategy with the aim of reducing alcohol harm and abuse in the UK.
The UK’s leading alcohol charity is working with communities, academics, industry and governments to create change at a societal level, with the vision of a future where people who choose to drink can make more informed choices about their drinking habits.
Last year, Drinkaware provided facts and advice to over 5 million website users alongside producing vital research on the harmful effects of alcohol addiction.

Over 117,000 people downloaded the MyDrinkaware app in 2022 to manage their drinking habits and better understand their relationship with alcohol.
The company says many factors influence behaviour, including individual motivation, the wider environment and policy and regulation.
By supplying information and guidance based on evidence, Drinkaware is planning to continue to commission research into under-explored areas relating to the harmful effects of alcohol and share them to educate their wider audience.
“We believe that we have a shared responsibility for the culture of the society we want to live in,” Drinkaware CEO Karen Tyrell said.
She added: “The world around us matters. As such, real partnership is vital to achieve the scale of change that we want to make.”
“Working together with the alcohol industry, government, researchers, academics, charities and others will allow us to make tangible change to the UK’s drinking culture so more people can lead healthy, happy lives.”
The news comes as Waitrose has experienced a boom in low and no alcohol drink sales last month, after seeing a rising trend in sober curiosity and this year’s Dry January.
