Walkers translates HFSS guide into Punjabi and Hindi

Walkers has translated its Guide to Getting Ready for HFSS into Hindi, Indian Punjabi and Pakistani Punjabi.

The move looks to clarify regulations on products high in fat, salt or sugar (HFSS) for retailers and help boost their crisp and snack sales.

Available for free on *shopt alongside the English version of the guide, this comes following legislation that banned HFSS products from store entrances, gondola ends and checkouts on 1 October 2022.

Recent research from the crisp brand also found that 62% of retailers believe initiatives ran by Walkers, such as the HFSS guide, have been helpful to running their businesses.

“We are pleased to be able to offer the guide in these languages to further help retailers with navigating the HFSS legislation,” PepsiCo UK impulse category management chanel lead, Kirsten Reid said.

“The original English version of our guide has been in great demand since launching earlier this year, showing how retailers are looking to suppliers for an added level of support on navigating HFSS.”

Reid added: “The launch of the translations forms part of our commitment to diversity and inclusion, and we hope to pave the way for other suppliers to consider the needs of all retailers when sharing information on key topics.

“This also forms part of our continuing support of retailers during the initial phases of HFSS regulations, as we assist in navigating the new rules.”
