Tesco donates 3.5k toys to The Salvation Army’s Christmas Present Appeal

Tesco has given The Salvation Army’s Christmas Present Appeal a boost with a donation of 3,500 toys to support children who might not receive a gift this year.

The leading retailers lorry of toys was delivered to The Salvation Army’s distribution centre in Wollaston which will be taken across the UK where local corps will provide the toys to families in need.

The toys featured in Tesco’s donation include Peppa Pig playsets, Lego sets, jigsaw puzzles, Hot Wheels Motor Makers Kitz, Paw Patrol sets, Teamsterz Monster Moverz, Cry Babies dolls and Rainbocorns.

“More than ever at Christmas, we want to support our communities and those who might be struggling, especially families who may be finding it difficult to afford presents for their children this year,” Tesco category director, Ally Rose said.

“We hope our support for The Slavation Army’s Christmas Present Appeal will make Chrustmas Day a little easier for hard-pressed families across the UK.”

The Salvation Armt Lt Col Dean Pallant added: “We are delighted to be partnering with Tesco this Christmas and thank them for their generous donation of toys. This year, faced with spiralling inflation and the soaring cost of living, more people in crisis are turning to The Salvation Army for help.

“Donations like these provide a beacon of light to vulnerable families on the brink and help us bring joy to many children at Christmas.”

This comes following Tesco’s annual food collection which rolled out earlier this month to support the Trussell Trust’s network of food banks and FareShare over the winter period.
