Yazoo swaps Kids plastic drink packaging for cardboard cartons

Yazoo has switched the plastic packaging on its Kids bottles for cardboard cartons in a step towards the milkshake brand’s sustainability goals.

The new packaging which appears in the form of a lunchbox-friendly square shaped carton will be rolled out across its Chocolate, Strawberry and Banana flavours in x3 and x6 multipacks through grocery, convenience and wholesale channels.

This move comes as Yazoo looks to make 100% of its packaging recyclable or reusable by 2025.

“Planet-first products are of ever-increasing importance to consumers and retailers alike. A recent study found that 65% of the population believe that food and nutrition brands need to do more to protect the planet, a number that is only set to grow in the coming years,” FrieslandCampina brand manager, Maren Furich said.

“Sustainability is a key focus for us at FrieslandCampina so we’re proud to introduce the new eco-friendly cardboard carton packaging this autumn.

“Coupled with Yazoo Kids great nutritionals and our always popular Minions tie-up, we’re confident that the new packaging will be a hit with parents and kids alike.”

Its sustainability push also looks to improve the health and wellbeing of its customers as its sugar reduction commitment has removed 480 tonnes of sugar per year since 2008, with 100% of its products now high in fat, salt or sugar (HFSS) compliant.
