Asda’s latest Mindset survey shows that 90% of shoppers plan to maintain or increase spending on Christmas dinner despite having smaller budgets during the cost-of-living crisis.
For 92% of consumers, children’s Christmas presents will also remain a priority as they look to spend the same or more.
However, as inflation is pushing prices up, the Big 4 grocer‘s research shows 54% of families are planning to spend less on festive decorations, with others spending less on presents for extended family members and friends.

This comes as Asda’s latest Income Tracker, which monitors household disposable income, shows that the average UK household was £142 worse off compared to last October.
Coming as a result of energy costs which have risen by almost 90% year on year, after paying tax and essential bills last month, the average household was left with £203 per week.
In a bid to help shoppers through the run up to the Christmas period, Asda has increased the size of its festive range to over 700 products at price points to suit different customer budgets.
Last month, the supermarket giant announced a range of new ‘winter warmer’ initiatives to support customers struggling with the cost-of-living crisis, including offering those aged over 60 soup, bread and unlimited hot drinks for £1 throughout November and December.
