Almost one third of shoppers complain about ‘Home Delivery’ during Christmas

‘Home Delivery’ has been named the most common complaint among 31.9% of UK shoppers during the Christmas period.

According to a Britsuperstore’s analysis of over 2,000 Trustpilot reviews from 1 November 2021 to 1 January 2022, home delivery complaints were closely followed by customer service and communication at 31.24%.

Product quality, advertisements and stock availability also ranked within the top five most common Christmas complaints.

Across the UK’s supermarket giants, home delivery was found to be most complained about in Asda, Iceland, Waitrose, Morrisons and Aldi, while 48.26% of Tesco’s Christmas complaints came from advertisements.

Customer service and communication was also the main complaint across Co-op and Sainsbury’s Trustpilot reviews, with this highest at M&S with 65.51%.

Also looking into the top ten issues that UK shoppers dislike the most when Christmas shopping, the online supermarket found that Morrisons had 46.66% of complaints relating to health and safety, while 44% of Asda’s complaints revolved around it being busy.

Among leading retailer Tesco and M&S, 23.42% of shoppers complained about price increases, an issue heightened by rising grocery inflation which is expected to reach a peak of 17 – 19% in early 2023.

As a result, many retailers have looked to lower prices and earlier this week, Morrisons cut the prices of 52 festive products as it pledges to keep prices low until the end of the year.
