Asda has extended the 10% discount available in stores for Blue Light Card members, which will now remain in place until ‘at least’ the end of the year.
The news comes in the wake of concerns that the discount scheme was to be removed on 31 October, but the supermarket has confirmed that it will remain in place until ‘at least’ the end of the year.
Introduced earlier this year, the Blue Light discount gives an additional 10% off to all workers from across the NHS, emergency services, social services, the social care sector and the army. The offer applies across all Asda stores nationwide.
The extension to the discount comes as households are facing some of the steepest inflation and food prices seen in decades as they look for ways to save money during the cost-of-living crisis.

The scheme – which was first launched during the pandemic – can be used to reduce the cost of food and soft drinks, George clothing and homeware, toys, gifts, optical and the Christmas range.
Customers who qualify can now use the discount until 31 December 2022 when shopping in Asda stores across the UK.
A spokesperson for Asda said: “We can confirm that the partnership between Asda and Blue Light Card is in place until at least the end of the year.”
