Tesco is to stock a range of Double Strength CBD drinks from relaxation brand Goodrays, as part of the retailer’s efforts to expand its selection of beverages.
Goodrays Double Strength is a health-based can infused with 30mg of natural CBD, which is double the amount of the market average.
The product is the first and only CBD beverage to launch in Tesco as the naturally occurring, non-intoxicating compound found in cannabis plants continues to go mainstream.
The UK’s leading retailer has three different flavors of the drink currently in stock: Elderflower and Yuzu, Raspberry & Guava and Blood Orange & Grapefruit.
Additionally, the cans are 100% vegan, and a four-pack of Goodrays will sell for a RRP of £7.50.
“Our mission is to make high-quality CBD accessible, mainstream and widely understood, and to have a listing in Tesco, the UK’s largest retailer, is genuinely a dream come true,” Founder of Goodrays, Eoin Keenan said.
“It’s incredibly exciting to be supporting the next wave of innovation in functional drinks and it shows that the health benefits of CBD have begun to be more widely accepted.”
Keenen says that consumers will now have easy access to effective, single dose portions of CBD making the category more readily available to everyone.
He continues: “The quality and effectiveness of our product is down to the higher dose of 30mg of CBD in each can. The majority of human studies that demonstrate how CBD can help to decrease stress and anxiety begin at a minimum of 20mg dosages and we believe that like a cup of tea or coffee or a glass of kombucha, consumers should have the full benefits in a single product.”
The news comes as salaried Tesco workers have been forced to take a pay cut in real-terms as the retailer looks to offer larger wage increases for lower-paid workers amid the cost-of-living crisis.
