The Christmas product round-up: with Aldi, Waitrose, Asda & Tesco

With the festive season now firmly on the horizon, supermarkets across the UK are gradually starting to roll out promotions for their upcoming Christmas food ranges.

Here are some of the top picks for festive starters, mains and desserts from major grocers including Aldi, Waitrose, Asda and Tesco.

Aldi

Aldi has put a big emphasis on its range of festive starters, at a significantly cheaper price than most other retailers.

Truffle seems to be a recurring theme in Aldi’s Christmas range this year, featuring in everything from its gammon range to a few of its different cheeses.

The German discounter’s starter offerings also include pork and truffle pigs in blankets, cheese profiteroles, mini fish sliders, hog roast bites, apple and honey stuffing balls and more.

Waitrose

Waitrose is preparing a variety of unique main courses for its Christmas selection, such as partnering with Heston Blumenthal for its festive Peking duck.

Other mains the supermarket will have on store shelves include treacle cured gammon and a vegan nut roast.

However, the upmarket chain is also offering a wide range of starters and desserts, like vegan beef empanadas, layered pork pie, and an orange and white chocolate quenelle.

Asda

Asda will primarily have a varied range of meat-focused dishes on display this Christmas, like its stuffed turkey parcels, tomahawk wellington, beef joint and lamb shoulder.

Aside from mains, the grocer has a selection of canapés, desserts and festive cocktails.

Such as its smoked salmon bites, prawn cocktails, special mince pies and espresso and passionfruit martini cocktail desserts.

Tesco

From tropical twists to Christmas pudding, Tesco is putting a big focus on showstopping desserts this year.

While still offering a wide selection of starters and mains, its pudding section is leading the charge.

Up for grabs this December will be a chocolate ganache and buttercream cake, a salted caramel choux wreath and a Tesco Finest Martini dessert.
