Nisa’s charity, Making a Difference Locally (MADL) has reached its £15 million milestone, raising money for communities across the UK.
The achievement comes as more than £1.1 million was raised within the last financial year from July 2021 to June 2022.
Since it was first formed in 2008, the charity has since supported local causes such as foodbanks, health and well-being charities, refuges, sports teams and community groups with over 16,000 donations.
Raised via a percentage of the sale of Co-op own-brand products in Nisa-supplied stores, as well as through in-store collecting tins, clothing banks and digital donations at the till point, the funds are provided to the convenience chain‘s retailers to donate locally.
“We are delighted that Nisa retailers and their customers have helped to raise more than £15 million for thousands of very deserving good causes across the UK over the last 14 years,” Nisa head of charity, Kate Carroll said.
“Donations have supported a wide range of causes, projects and items and now more than ever, we know they will make a real difference for local communities.”
This news comes as MADL announced its new branding at Nisa Expo. The charities marketing manager, Helen Walker said this looked to make the brand “more inclusive, modern and better aligned with Nisa’s recent rebrand whilst also trying to encapsulate the spirit and diversity of local communities.”
She added: “The charity already has a strong brand identity that our retailers and their customers recognise, and so the look and feel has been refreshed and modernised rather than replaced completely and we believe it will still have strong standout in stores and online.”
